Pak-Turkish Joint Fight Against Terrorism, Turkish Technical Support for various sectors

ANKARA, February 17: While terming the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Turkey as exemplary, leadership of both the countries agreed to further strengthen existing cooperation in the fight against terrorism and to jointly target anti-terror activities such as curbing the sources of funding for terrorists. This was agreed in a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey Mr. Jamil Chechek and Deputy Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi in a meeting here today.
Mr. Kundi is heading a seven-member parliamentary delegation that includes Members National Assembly Mr. Usman Muhammad and Ms Shireen Arshad, Senators Mr. Muhamad Kazim Khan, Ms Simeen Yusuf Siddiqui, Mr Mohammad Saleh Shah and Mir Lashkar Raisani.
Mr. Kundi said terrorists always have the backing of external forces and a joint fight involving friendly countries supported by the United Nations could help in eradicating this menace from our societies. The Turkish Deputy Premier informed that Turkey is victim of terrorism since the last 40 years and is sharing the expertise and information with the brotherly country of Pakistan.
Mr. Kundi conveyed the appreciation of Pakistani nation for Turkish support for flood affectees of Pakistan.
Earlier, in a meeting with the President of Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) Mr. Musa Kulaklikya, the visiting Pakistani delegation was briefed about the ongoing developments projects that TIKA is undertaking in Pakistan. He informed that a group of experts would be visiting Pakistan to further explore the possibilities of Turkish technical support for building dams in Pakistan. Mr. Kundi invited TIKA to consider projects in the fields of potable water for rural areas, handicrafts including training of master trainers, education exchange, and mining.
