Pakistan grateful to Turkey for disaster homes - Kundi

ANKARA, 19 February 2011: Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi met the President of Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI) Mr. Erdogan Bayraktar at his Ankara office and thanked the Turkish Government for building 4620 houses for flood affectees of Pakistan.
Mr. Kundi, who is leading a seven-member Parliamentary delegation on his visit to Turkey, requested Bayraktar to build more houses in Pakistan and assured him for all kinds of assistance including providing land for construction. He also requested Mr. Bayraktar to build community facilities along with disaster homes.
TOKI President Bayraktar said Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan instructed him to finish the disaster houses in Pakistan as soon as possible. “We will also build facilities like health center and trade center along with houses,” said Mr. Bayraktar adding “these houses will be built on high altitude areas in order to protect these from possible floods and match the cultural structure of Pakistan,.” He said Pakistan needs urgent housing and this can be achieved by establishing house manufacturing factories to build low cost houses on a fast track.
The delegation included Members National Assembly Mr. Usman Muhammad and Ms Shireen Arshad, Senators Mr. Muhamad Kazim Khan, Ms Simeen Yusuf Siddiqui, Mr Mohammad Saleh Shah and Mir Lashkar Raisani.
