Pakistan’s Minister for National Heritage & Integration visits Turkey


ANKARA, 1 June 2012: Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Heritage & Integration Mrs. Samina Khalid Khurki is leading Pakistani delegations to the Conference of UN Alliance of Civilization Partners Forum being held in Istanbul from 31 May to 1 June 2012. She is also representing Pakistan in the second Conference on Somalia held in Istanbul.

The Minister alongwith Ms Rahela Shahadat Baloch, Minister of State for Science & Technology visited Konya on Thursday evening. Governor Konya H.E. Mr. Aydın Nezih Doğan received both the dignitaries.

To pay homage to the great philosopher and sufi saint of the Muslim world, the dignitaries visited the Mausoleum of Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi.

Mrs. Samina Khalid Ghurki while meeting with the Governor Konya said the sufi philosophy of Maulana Rumi has enormous influence on the poetry of Pakistan’s national poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal. She stressed on the need for more people to people contact between the two brotherly countries. She said Pakistan can greatly benefit from the Turkish experience in the field of preservation of cultural heritage.
