Tree plantation held in Ankara to commemorate Peshawar school terrorist attack victims

ANKARA, 7 January 2015: To pay homage and commemorate the schoolchildren and staff martyred in a brutal terrorist attack on Peshawar’s Army Public School, the Mayor of Keçiören Multiplicity of Ankara, Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and its Youth Wing members and Pakistan Embassy officials planted trees. The ceremony took place here today in the forest dedicated to AK Party’s 10th anniversary.

Keçiören Municipality Mayor Mr. Mustafa AK in his speech condemned the terrorist attack and said nothing can justify such a brutal and inhuman act. He said terrorism is a threat to humanity and all the countries of world should work together to eradicate this menace. He said after plantation of trees in memory of those who lost their lives in Peshawar terrorist attack, Pakistanis will have a reason to visit this forest which is spread over an area of 300,000 square meters and was earlier inaugurated by the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We hope that our centuries old brotherly relationship shall be further strengthened, he added.

Defence Attache of Pakistan Air Commodore Abbas Ghumman appreciated the kind gesture of the Turkish people. “No two nations share their grief and sorrow as deeply as Turkey and Pakistan do,” said Mr. Abbas Ghuman. He said Turkish support has further strengthened our resolve in these testing times. He reiterated the resolve of the Government and the people of Pakistan to continue efforts for eradicating terrorism.

Keçiören District President of AK Party Mr. Zafer Çoktan and AK Party Youth Wing President Mr. Cansu Mutlu also spoke on the occasion.
