We have learnt with
deep sorrow and grief about the terrorist attack on a gendarmerie checkpoint in
Semdinli district of Turkey’s Hakkari province today. Reports indicate that a
number of precious lives including security personnel and civilians have been
lost. A large number are reportedly wounded.
Pakistan condemns
this mindless act of terrorism in the strongest possible terms. We extend our
heart-felt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved families and to the
fraternal people and Governmet of Turkey. We also pray for the speediest and
fullest recovery of the wounded.
The people of
Pakistan stand in abiding solidarity with Turkey as our Turkish brethern wage
their resolute fight against terrorism. There is no doubt that those seeking to
distrub the peace, stability and internal harmony of Turkey would never succeed.
We remain firm in our belief that the brotherly people of Turkey would
decisively defeat the scourge of terrorism with their unshakable resolve.
Pakistan also
reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
